Waste collection, sorting and recycling are rising on the agenda in many nations – and regions, too. The growing momentum to hold producers accountable for the entire lifecycle of their prod- uct packaging has resulted in a wave of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) programmes. For example, the United Kingdom and the United States have developed their own models, which feature fees based on the circularity of materials. Metsä Board’s paperboards can incur lower fees thanks to its light- weight and easily recyclable material.
